                         Cautions
--------------------------------------------------------------
The TWAIN specification is regularly updated, and software developers
modify their software to reflect these changes. However, problems may
occur if some applications not fully complying with the current TWAIN
specification is used.
Canon works closely with many software companies to identify and resolve
these problems so that you can run our software without difficulty.

1. Problems that may occur when using some chips for display cards
--------------------------------------------------------------
If you start TWAIN driver from TWAIN driver-compatible applications
(such as Adobe Photoshop Elements), operation of TWAIN driver may unstable
using some IC chips for display.
If this happens, use the [dispinit.exe] fix program. It is in
[SOFTWARE/TWAIN/camera model name/language] folder on the SOLUTION DISK.
You have to run the [dispinit.exe] fix program every time you start a
computer. If you register [dispinit.exe] short cut as a Windows startup
program, you can run the program automatically every time the computer
starts up.

2. Cautions on RAW images
--------------------------------------------------------------
RAW images are not displayed with TWAIN driver.
Be sure to check that necessary RAW image data is not included in your
memory card with a software, which is capable to show RAW images,
before formatting the card.

3. Cautions on communication between TWAIN driver and a camera
--------------------------------------------------------------
(1) When TWAIN driver is running connecting with a computer and a camera,
do not achieve the followings, since communication might be disturbed.

* Set the camera's main switch to <OFF>.
* Open the memory card slot cover.
* Disconnect the interface cable or remove the battery.
* Disconnect the DC coupler (optional) or unplug the power cord or AC adapter.

Before you perform the operations above, be sure to exit TWAIN Driver being
used.

(2) Do not put your computer to sleep while it is connected to the camera.
If you do put your computer to sleep while it is connected to the camera,
never disconnect the interface cable while your computer is still in sleep
mode. Always wake your computer up before disconnecting the camera.
On some types of computer, disconnecting the interface cable while your
computer is in sleep mode could prevent the computer from waking up
correctly. Refer to the computer User's Manual for more information on
Sleep mode.

(3) You cannot communicate with a camera when the camera's LCD monitor
is on. Connect the camera after turn off the LCD monitor.

4. Cautions on Windows 98SE
--------------------------------------------------------------
(1) For more stable operations, we recommend that users connecting a
camera with an IEEE1394 interface to a computer running Windows 98SE
to download and install the update program from the Microsoft web site.

(2) If you connect a camera to a computer running Windows 98SE, set
the Auto Power Off setting to [Off].
